Welcome to the Gina Guthrie Scholarship Fund! Our mission is to award scholarships to deserving college students in memory of Gina Guthrie. Gina was a beacon of light to all who knew her and her passing from cancer in January of 2019 was a great tragedy. In order to keep her memory alive, this fund was started in her name with the goal of providing financial assistance to students in need. We awarded our first 2 scholarships in the summer of 2020 and have made 8 more awards since, bringing the total amount of scholarships provided to $25,000 in just 5 years. Please explore our site to learn more about Gina and her legacy, get to know our recipients, and donate to the fund to help other students live the dream life she had.
We are excited to announce that we have just named Ashley Savigne as the recipient of our Fall 2024 Kappa Delta scholarship! Ashley is a senior majoring in computer science at the University of Florida. Her essay won out in an extremely close vote among all of our amazing applicants. You can read her winning submission and get to know her a little more by clicking on our "Recipients" page. While you are there, you can also read the winning essay from our Spring 2024 Cabarrus County, N.C. H.S. winner Sindhura Chundi. Sindhura completed her senior year at Hickory Ridge High School and is now enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill and is also pursuing a degree in computer science. Thanks again to all of our applicants who submitted essays for both awards.
Gina's Life
Gina lived life to the fullest during her time with us. She graduated from the University of Florida, traveled the world, started her own business, and created a family full of love. Her life serves as an example to all of us on how one should live, love, and laugh every chance they get and to make the most of each moment.
If you are interested in donating or helping the fund reach its goals, please reach out to us and we will respond as soon as possible. Or, if you are a student and wish to know more about our scholarship availability and requirements, please send us an e-mail and we will fill you in on the process for applicants. Thanks!
